5-DAY BLENDED TRAJECT

LEADERS FOR TODAY & TOMORROW

Evidence-based & blended leadership programmes in practice

As a leader in today’s complex work environment, you take on a variety of roles. You have to meet targets, create commitment, motivate employees and teams, implement change and represent your company.

That’s a lot. Some of these roles fit you like a glove. For others, you need more support. Either way, they are all equally important for leaders of today and tomorrow.

“Get to know yourself as a leader. Help your employees to grow and build a dream team. Lead with impact!”

In the five-day blended leadership programme ‘Leaders for today & tomorrow’, you will acquire insights and skills that will allow you to shape the different roles of a leader with maximum impact.

During this programme, you will not only gain insight into your own identity and role as a leader f rom a scientific basis. You also learn the ins and outs of motivation and master the right techniques to get your people on board and achieve organisational objectives.

You will also learn how to turn your team into a dream team. Psychological safety no longer holds any secrets for you. You work on trust and connection but also create room for daring. In other words: you care to dare!

As a leader, you are responsible for the resilience within your team, also in difficult times and when things change. Therefore, you will learn how to deal with change and resistance and how to build a resilient team.

1. We set the scene (half-day, online/classroom training)
Before you start, you get to know your trainer and the other participants. At the same time, we introduce you to the programme, our methodology and the scientific framework. You know what our expectations are and we know yours. After this session, we immediately give you an interim assignment.

After this session:

  • You will know the other participants and their motivation to follow this programme.
  • You know the programme and expectations.
  • You understand the scientific framework.
  • You know what your preparatory and intermediate tasks entail and how to carry them out.

2. Who are you as a guide? (full day, classroom training)
You start this session with feedback on the assignment. Next, reflection exercises give you insight into how you approach and interpret leadership. You discover in group how you give shape to task-oriented leadership, what involvement and motivation mean and how you create them, in yourself and your employees. You return to your workplace with a clear view of what you will do differently and with a new practical assignment.

After this session:

  • You know how to keep your employees engaged.
  • You know the link between task-based and relationship-based leadership.
  • You can apply task-oriented leadership.
  • You know how motivation works.
  • And can put the process of motivation into practice for yourself.

3. How do you take people along with you? (full day, classroom training, half day with simulation actor)
At the start of this session, you also look back at your interim assignment. We start from this assignment to learn what exactly you can do to motivate your employees. You get three buttons for that: autonomy (A), belonging (B) and competence (C). Moreover, you will learn the right (proactive and reactive) interview techniques to adjust these buttons and get the most out of individual conversations. In the afternoon, you put this into practice with a professional simulation actor. You conclude the day with a new assignment and clear, personal points for improvement.

After this session:

  • You can motivate your employees.
  • You can prepare conversations properly.
  • Apply proactive interview techniques.
  • You can respond correctly to your interlocutors.

4. How do you build a solid team of climbers? (full day, classroom training)
As in every session, we start with a review of your assignment. Then you will learn how to build a successful team and why a safe team climate is crucial. You know the ins and outs of psychological safety and how to achieve it. You learn to care and dare. In other words: you know why trust and connection are crucial (care) but also why it is important to dare to make agreements (dare). After this training you will also have mastered a number of facilitation techniques that you can use immediately. We send you home with an assignment and clear insights into how you can better build a cohesive team.

After this session:

  • Psychological safety has no more secrets and you (re)recognise its importance.
  • You know why trust and connection are important (TO CARE).
  • You know the value of social boldness (TO DARE).
  • You use your facilitation techniques, in your team meetings.

5. What do you do with climbers who are struggling? (full day, classroom training, half day with simulation actor)
You reflect one last time on your interim assignment before learning how to deal with change, resilience and resistance. After this session, you will know what changes do to your brain and what impact they have on your resilience and that of your team. You can identify resistance and stress signals in yourself and your employees. Finally, you understand why you sometimes avoid courageous conversations and learn the right conversation techniques to successfully conduct such a conversation and deal with the reactions of your conversation partner. In the afternoon, you apply these new insights and skills with a simulation actor. You conclude the day with a reflection on what you will do differently tomorrow and with a final assignment.

After this session:

  • You recognise the effect of change on resilience in yourself and your team.
  • You know your personal stress and emotional triggers (for courageous conversations) and be able to bypass them.
  • You can apply these insights to your workplace.
  • You can apply proactive conversation techniques.
  • You know how to deal with peer reactions.

6. Follow-up day (half-day, classroom training, 3 to 6 months after last session)
A follow-up day ensures that you can apply the insights and skills taught to your workplace on a permanent basis. Depending on your specific goals and organisational culture, this moment can take different forms, ranging from an intervision moment to a follow-up, exercise or presentation.

We developed the leadership programme Leaders for today & tomorrow from various best practices at various customers. It goes without saying that you can add your own accents or seek more depth. This can be done in two ways.

Firstly, you can choose other learning formats, both synchronous (follow-up sessions, simulations, classroom training, coaching, etc.) and asynchronous (digital Learning Boosters, learning labs, customised booklet).

Secondly, you can add more depth around specific themes. Think about communicating with impact, focus management, emotional intelligence, presenting with impact, coaching skills and more.

  • Concrete cases from the group
  • Group exercises
  • Personal action plan (translation of theory to the workplace)
  • Scientific translation
  • Visual, file cards and/or e-book for each participant

This training can be used perfectly as a plug and play training, but can just as well be part of a Learning Journey. Below are a few examples that you can use to increase the effect of the training:

  • Pre- and post-course via learning boosters & use of jobaids
  • Customised visuals and/or (e-)book
  • Individual coaching afterwards
